The A-Shed

A while back (15 or more years ago) I renovated a rotten outbuilding on our former property. I think it was originally a chicken shed. When we moved there it was a garbage shed. It was filled two feet deep with tin cans, jars and junk. It had no roof, no floor-other than rotting joists, half-rotten walls, and a sagging foundation. Most people would have torn it down. But I saw potential.

It got its name because there were four multi-purpose sheds on the property when we bought it and I had no idea what the original use was for any of them. I started renovating this one first and it became known as the A-shed. The B-shed followed (and became a chicken shed) and the C-shed next (a machine shed).

This is one of the only pictures I have of it during renovation. Yes, lots of ladders, no scaffolding.

This is what it looked like when it was finally done.

A couple interior pictures.

And finally a porch was added.

Even before the thought of tackling the A-shed came about, I built a tiny playhouse for the kids when they were little. It was made of all used lumber. Unfortunately it never got painted while we lived there, darn. I guess that once I moved on up to bigger and better things (and the kids outgrew it) the poor little playhouse was forgotten.

Here's the interior.
